And it's not like we are getting anything of value for this debt. If we were winning WWII or defeating Islamic Supremacism, or placing a permanent base on the Moon, I could at least entertain the argument that the achievement was worth the cost. But this is just shoveling pork to a bunch of sleazeball leftist special-interest groups.

Are weapons used by Mexican drug cartels:
1) Licensed Class III weapons bought in the USA for $2,000 - $6,000+ ?
2) Unlicensed assault weapons smuggled in (primarily from El Salvador) at $100 - $500 each?

Apologies for the snarky tone of my earlier post that expressed surprise that Ms. Chesler, a member of a Women's Studies faculty, had actually produced work of practical import. This gives more background and insight into the development of her ideology.
Apologies again. Ms. Chesler -- you are truly impressive.
"In recent years, I fear that the "peace and love" crowd in the West has refused to understand how Islamism endangers Western values and lives, beginning with our commitment to women's rights and human rights. The Islamists who are beheading civilians, stoning Muslim women to death, jailing Muslim dissidents, and bombing civilians on every continent are now moving among us both in the East and in the West. While some feminist leaders and groups have come to publicize the atrocities against women in the Islamic world, they have not tied it to any feminist foreign policy. Women's studies programs should have been the first to sound the alarm. They do not. More than four decades after I was a virtual prisoner in Afghanistan, I realize how far the Western feminist movement has to go.

Ya just gotta read it all here.
See the whole thing here.

Clinton: Obama Administration will "enlist the help of Muslims around the world against the extremists"
I Concur -- THIS is Farking Hilarious!
Of course, that's just what the Bush Administration tried to do -- and ended up taking the advice of Muslim Brotherhood operatives, and enabling jihadists to gain access to high levels of government. Will this initiative work out better as guided by Obama and Hillary? I doubt it.
h/t to Robert Spencer at Jihad Watch
"President Barack Obama on Tuesday signed into law the most significant economic legislation passed by his young administration, then put his political clout to work trying to build public support not just for his stimulus plan but for ambitious rescue programs yet to come.
Even as Republicans distance themselves from the plan, Obama has gone the other way, lashing his political future to it, saying that if it fails to stem the recession he does not expect to be re-elected. Unspoken is the flip side of that coin: Its success might leave Republicans looking isolated and wrong-footed."
Speaking as a Libertarian rather than a REP, I think we'll take the bet that this plan won't work.
Unfortunately, if it doesn't work and in fact makes things MUCH WORSE, we'll all be screwed together.
Way too late.
"Until March 20, both are restrained from speaking with the press. After their release from home confinement, Ramos and Compean will be on "supervised release," similar to "probation," for a period of up to three years."
And way too little
a commutation vice a pardon
But a good thing nevertheless. ;-)

Horrible Images -- Not for the Young or Weak-of-Heart
Click Here -- You have been warned.
As the old saying goes -- "They may kill me with my own gun, but they'll have to beat me to death with it since I'll have already fired all of my bullets."
Wow -- is this ever symbolic of the whole Obama presidency!?! I may even have to order one of these coins as a symbolic gesture. Naaah -- I'll just fire-up PhotoShop and make my own.
If these Retard Purchasers can sue the coin-vendors for fraud, then can we American Citizens sue Obama on a similar basis?
Echoing Vice President Joe Biden , who said the new administration wants to push a "reset button" on U.S.- Russia relations, Undersecretary of State William Burns told the Interfax news agency in Moscow last week that, " The United States is quite open to the possibility of new forms of cooperation" with Moscow on missile defense, Iran and "the whole range of security issues with Russia ." His remarks are posted on the Interfax Web site.
Translation into the English Language: Obama doesn't have the balls to stand up to either 1) Russia on missile defense or 2) Iran on their development of nuke-weapons. He and his imbecile minions are hoping that they can somehow get these two enemies to work-against each-other in mutually solving our problems. That is TYPICAL LIBERALISM -- they think they are so much more clever than anyone else and can manipulate them for their goals. In fact -- they're less intelligent and less realistic.
Oho! So now that you've shoved this corb-encrusted turd down our collective throats -- without even reading the flippin' thing
--it has now somehow become OUR JOB to police the implementation of this HUGE and OBSCURE pile of fecal matter. That proves they're admitting that the government is unable to control this spending.
This turd-sandwich is 100% owned by Obama and the DEMs. But we'll all pay the price.
Is it time yet?
Double Drug-Rape Disgrace of CIA’s Top Agent in Algeria
"Andrew Warren, 41, seemed to have all the right qualifications as an undercover agent in the Middle East. An African-American schooled in martial arts, he is a convert to Islam who speaks six Arabic dialects."
Makes you wonder whether his race was a significant factor in his selection for the National Intelligence "fast track". Or whether his being a designated "Golden Boy" by CIA leadership might have reduced/impeded any scrutiny that might have been placed upon his earlier postings. Or even whether or not his own awareness that he was "special" within the Agency may have possibly led to his feelings of entitlement and invulnerability with respect to rules/law violations.
I don't want to jump to any conclusion regarding his guilt, but since "A CIA station chief in Algeria, who was accused of drugging and raping two Algerian women, filmed the attacks and stored images on his computer, an official investigation has discovered." and his claims of consensual sex were "...undermined by images that investigators found on his computer and mobile telephone in which the women seemed as passive as dolls. Also found in Warren’s home was a handbook on the investigation of sexual assaults and quantities of Xanax and Valium, tranquillisers commonly used in date rape.", he seems to have little chance of being exonerated.
This guy is DONE. But the real question is whether the CIA and our society in-general can recognize and learn from the mistakes in leadership that allowed this to happen. I know which way I'm betting -- especially with Leon Panetta taking-over (and probably further politicizing) the Agency.
P.S. Is this more or less damaging to us in the Arab World than a few grunts putting panties over the heads of detainees at Abu Ghraib? Is it getting more or less play in the MSM? Just askin' is all.

Not that the US is much better nowadays. At least our government still allows its citizens (note, as opposed to subjects) to retain their Second Amendment rights -- at least for now.

Not so much, anymore.
P.S. It's not just Newsweek, they're maybe just a bit earlier and a bit more candid than the rest of the MSM.
See the plan articulated in his own words:
Strikingly reminiscent of the purges and show trials of "Anti-Soviet" elements from the old days of the Soviet Union.
Makes you wonder what might qualify a person as a "Domestic Terrorist":
Politically incorrect speech.
Documenting your thoughts on a conservative blog.
Membership in right-wing paramilitary groups (i.e. 4H, Boy Scouts of America, NRA)
Failing to be suitably "patriotic" by paying exorbitant taxes.

Interesting how my "enlightened self-interest" is your "unjustified and selfish greed". How does that self-righteous douche-bag Phil Donohue sees no irony in the contrast between his salary and the large-scale poverty of most of the world.
I fear that we are now far-gone in the process of flushing-down the glorious American Experiment. We ain't past the p-trap yet, but it's within sight.

P.S. The article also implies that her ring of cohorts also planned and executed the rapes. I didn't catch that on the first read. Hell ain't hot-enough. I am SOOO GLAD that our new president is cancelling the GWoT and seeking a mutual accomodation with Islamic-Supremacism (a.k.a. Dhimmitude).
Listen to his mental (midget) gymnastics in trying to deny that taxation is essentially the forcible redistribution of wealth.

This is just the thing -- showing western practicality and intelligence at its best:
Maybe we could paint real sexy goats onto the sides of M-1 Abrams tanks to help win the War on Terror?
Oh wait, I forgot, it's no longer politically acceptable to call it a war. Even though folks on both sides are still killing each-other and this definitely meets Merriam-Webster's definition of war as "a struggle or competition between opposing forces or for a particular end."

His father writes an excellent memorial on the seventh anniversary of his son's brutal murder. It is hard to believe that it has been so long since this man's murder. It is equally hard to realize that his murderer has yet to face justice.
P.S. I woulda linked to the video of his head being slowly hacked-off with a rusty blade, but I had a bit of a hard-time finding it on the web. Probably woulda been too upsetting for the American people to see this -- it might make 'em angry. Can't have that. JWM

Eighty-four-year-old Robert, whose health had declined steadily in recent years, always expected to go first. His 80-year-old wife, Darlene, had been his steady caretaker at the Seatter Road home they built with their own hands.
That is, until December, when a cancer gave her precious few weeks of life to live.
When Robert learned Darlene was terminally ill, he quickly grumbled: "I'm terminal, too."
The claim drew scoffs from his family. But he was serious.
And as his wife lay beside him in her last moments on Jan. 23, Robert, too, began to die, to the amazement of his family and hospice caretakers.
Only six hours separated their deaths.
It was a bittersweet moment for the couple's five children and extended family.
They'd lost their mother and father. But their parents the couple who lived and breathed love for one another, who spooned together every night while watching the news, who even walked to their mailbox in tandem had received their last wish.
"I don't think you can explain our rejoicing," said Marie Townsend, 55, their second daughter. "They ebbed and flowed together. They were truly one. And when she died, half of him died."

For those few of you unfamiliar with the background to his discussion -- the impending prosecution of Geert Wilders, go here.
For those who get hooked by this speech of Mr. Condell's, go here and here. You don't have to accept his atheism (as a Christian, I don't) to like and respect his discussions of Islam and his blatantly unapologetic attitude.
